On Saturday, Hunger Games star Jennifer Lawrence and Trainwreck star Amy Schumer attended a Rally for Abortion Justice that was held in Washington DC. Jennifer Lawrence, who is pregnant, and Amy Schumer, who had her uterus and appendix removed last month due to endometriosis showed up to reiterate their support for abortion rights.
Schumer shared a photo to Instagram of her and Lawrence holding placards. Dressed in a jumpsuit and wearing a blue cap, the 40-year old comedian carried a placard which stated: “Abortion Is Essential” while Lawrence wore a checkered dress which showed her baby bump. The placard she carried stated: “Women can’t be free if they don’t control their own bodies.”
Jennifer Lawrence is expecting her first baby with her husband Cooke Maroney. The relatively private couple have not spoken about the pregnancy although sources say that she is very happy and is looking forward to having the baby. Yet, the star came out to support countless women whose rights have been restricted in some states by lawmakers.

Meanwhile, the I Feel Pretty Star, who has a two-year old, had already showed support a day earlier as well when she had written that everyone deserved to have a “safe and supported” abortion. She mentioned that this could take place at any time and for any reason. The recent Texan abortion bill had restricted abortions to be carried out within a six weeks period unless there was medical danger to a woman due to her pregnancy.
On Saturday, there were more than 650 marches across the nation, just before another restrictive ban on abortion rights will be heard by the Supreme Court. Reuters reported that lawmakers from Mississippi have asked the highest court in the nation to overturn the 1973 Roe v. Wade case.
Schumer succinctly described her and Lawrence’s presence and support for abortion rights on Instagram: “I don’t have a uterus and she is pregnant but we out here.” She tagged womensmarch, plannedparenthood and rallyforabortionjustice.
