Around 11:42 a.m., officers were alerted to a stabbing with numerous victims outside a casino in the 3100 block of South Las Vegas Boulevard, according to a tweet from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Authorities reported that eight victims had been located and that a suspect had been apprehended.
Authorities revealed that a reported unprovoked stabbing attack took place Thursday morning close to the Wynn hotel and casino that left two individuals dead and six others critically wounded. An insane individual wielding a kitchen knife stabbing several people while going on the rampage on the city’s famous strip. Among the victims of the insane knife attack, there were four showgirls who also got cut in broad daylight. Maris Mareen Digiovanni, 30, and Brent Allan Hallett, 47, were killed in the attack.
According to police, the suspect, Yoni Barrios, 32, was arrested on suspicion of two counts of “open murder with a deadly weapon” and six counts of “attempted murder with a deadly weapon.” Barrios has been registered in the Clark County Detention Center. Uncertainty surrounds Barrios’ legal counsel. Barrios, who does not reside in Las Vegas, is said to have approached the showgirls with a kitchen knife and introduced himself as a chef who wanted to take a picture with them.
Sheriff Joe Lombardo of Clark County claimed that it looked that both tourists and locals were among the victims. According to reports, the savage attack was carried out by a demented knifeman when the victims were greeting tourists outside the Wynn Casino. At the scene, a kitchen knife was found.
According to a news release from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, three of the six victims who were still alive were transferred to hospitals where they were listed in critical condition. According to authorities, one person passed away at the site, while another was declared dead at a hospital. The three other victims’ conditions remain stable.
Las Vegas Metro Police Deputy Chief James LaRochelle stated at a news conference that the initial stabbing happened in the sidewalk area and seemed to be random. There had been no conflict previously. After fleeing the area in a southerly direction, the suspect turned east on Sands Avenue while being pursued by “concerned bystanders,” some of whom were calling the police. Eventually, a security guard and Las Vegas police officers managed to stop the guy.
Police stated that the inquiry is still ongoing.
