The Pittsburgh Pirates placed All-Star outfielder Bryan Reynolds and infielder/outfielder Cole Tucker on the COVID-19 injured list Tuesday.

In corresponding moves, outfielder Jack Suwinski and INF/OF Tucupita Marcano have both been recalled from Double-A Altoona.

The team also put left-hander Anthony Banda on the 10-day injured list earlier Tuesday with a viral (non-COVID) illness. The move is retroactive to Saturday for Banda, 28, who is 0-0 with a 2.08 ERA in five appearances out of the bullpen this season.

Left-hander Sam Howard was recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis to take Banda’s spot on the 28-man active roster.

Reynolds is off to a slow start, batting just .190 with two home runs and four runs scored in 15 games. He’s a career .285 hitter and earned his first All-Star nod in 2021.

Tucker is batting .171 through 11 games.

Marcano made his major league debut with San Diego in 2021 and hit .182 with three RBIs in 25 games. Suwinski’s first appearance for the Pirates would mark his first in the major leagues.

Howard, 29, began the season on the 10-day IL with a back strain. He is 0-1 with a 3.38 ERA in 2 2/3 innings at Indianapolis.
