A prominent LGBTQ activist from Philadelphia was arrested on Monday and charged with the alleged rape of two minors, according to court documents. Kendall Stephens was arraigned by the Philadelphia Municipal Court. The 37-year-old activist had been a victim of a hate crime more than three years ago and became an activist after the attack.
According to court documents, Stephens has been charged with several sex crimes, including rape, involuntary deviant sexual intercourse, and more. The multiple counts also include unlawful contact with minors and corruption of minors. Other charges include indecent assault against individuals less than 13 years of age, as well as obscenity to minors. There is also an endangering the welfare of children charges against the activist.
Philadelphia police have said that the alleged incidents took place in September, and the boys are aged 14 and 9 years old.
The grandmother of one of the victims told police that her grandson had been sexually assaulted by Stephens, whom they considered to be a family friend.
Officials also said that one of the minor boys had been allegedly abused by Stephens on at least three occasions. The first time the minor was allegedly assaulted by the 37-year-old was in 2022 when the minor was only eight years old.

Investigators said that a second victim had also been assaulted by Stephens and that he had received gifts, as she wanted the young victim to keep quiet about the assault.
Stephens, who gained prominence as an activist in Philadelphia after she became the victim of a hate crime in 2020, allegedly asked one of the victims not to tell anybody about the abuse, as he would be locked up if he told anyone that he had been abused.
Kendall Stephen’s bail has been set at $250,000. She will next appear in court on Friday, December 29, 2023.
