PGA News: Tony Romo qualifies for U.S. Amateur Four-Ball

Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback-turned-CBS football analyst Tony Romo continued his side hustle as an amateur golfer by qualifying for the 2023 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball, his first time making the field of a USGA championship.

The Four-Ball is a team event, and Romo’s partner was Tommy Morrison, a 6-foot-10 high schooler committed to play college golf at Texas.

Morrison and Romo combined to shoot a 63 on Monday at Winter Creek Golf Club in Blanchard, Okla., tying for the low round. They made 10 birdies and just one bogey in their round.

The odd couple will be one of 128 pairs who tee off May 20 at Kiawah Island. The event will begin with 36 holes of stroke play, followed by a match-play bracket with the low 32 teams.

Romo, 42, has attempted and failed to qualify for the U.S. Open and the U.S. Amateur before. In July he won the American Century Championship, a celebrity tournament, for the third time.

Former NFL quarterback Sam Bradford also attempted to qualify for the Four-Ball but did not make it.
