The PGA of America will announce the 2025 U.S. Ryder Cup captain at noon ET on Tuesday in New York, and it reportedly will not be Tiger Woods.

Woods was considered the leading candidate for the post, but the Telegraph reported Monday that he has declined.

Woods was looking for a reduced role to the captaincy but he and the PGA of America could not reach an agreement on what that would entail, according to the report.

Sports Illustrated reported that Keegan Bradley will be named the captain. The 38-year-old participated in the Ryder Cup in 2012 and 2014.

Other potential choices include previous captains Zach Johnson (2023), Steve Stricker (2021), Jim Furyk (2018) and Davis Love III (2016) as well as Fred Couples, Stewart Cink, Matt Kuchar, Rickie Fowler and Phil Mickelson.

PGA of America president John Lindert will make the announcement at the NASDAQ building. It will be broadcast on Golf Channel and SiriusXM and livestreamed on the PGA’s Facebook and X (Twitter) accounts.

The biennial competition will take place from Sept. 26-28, 2025, at Bethpage Black on Long Island, N.Y.

Luke Donald returns as the European captain after leading his team to victory in Rome in 2023.
