Our golf experts preview the event and provide their favorite prop picks along with best bets to win this week.

PROP PICKS
–Viktor Hovland Top 10 (+140 at DraftKings): Hovland hasn’t been seen since opening 2024 with a T22 at The Sentry. The world’s No. 4-ranked player did close 2023 with five consecutive top-10s while claiming the FedEx Cup championship and starring for the winning European Ryder Cup team. Now he’s back at Pebble Beach, where he tied for 13th last year and also became the first Norwegian to win the U.S. Amateur title in 2018.

–Collin Morikawa Under 70 1st Round (-110 at BetMGM): Morikawa is coming off a missed cut at Torrey Pines, although he did open with a 67 before stumbling to a 75 in the second round. He also opened 2024 with a T5 at the Sentry, where he posted three rounds of 67 or better. You have to go pretty low to compete at the AT&T, where Rose won at 18 under last year. Morikawa is making his event debut, but the California native said Pebble is a place he’d “love to check” off the box with a win.

–Nicolai Hojgaard to Beat Beau Hossler (-110 at DraftKings): Hojgaard is a career-best 30th in the world rankings after his solo second at Torrey Pines. That continues an outstanding stretch for the PGA Tour rookie that includes winning the DP World Tour Championship to close out 2023 and a T7 at the Dubai Desert Classic two weeks ago. Fatigue is a potential concern with Hojgaard already making his fourth start of ’24, but we’re going to ride his excellent form over the past few months. Hossler is coming off a T6 last week following a T47 at the AmEx.

2024 Prop Picks Record: 6-6

BEST BETS
–Rory McIlroy (+850 at BetMGM) is at the AT&T for the first time since missing the cut in 2018. He is making his 2024 PGA Tour debut while coming off a win at the Dubai Desert Classic.
–World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler (+850) is making his tournament debut. He kicked off 2024 with a T5 at The Sentry before a disappointing T17 against a more modest field at the AmEx.
–Hovland (+1200) finished T22 at The Sentry in his lone start of 2024, but did close last year with a pair of wins among five consecutive top-10s. The same odds at DraftKings have seen Hovland the third most popular choice with 6.0 percent of the money backing him to win.
–Max Homa (+1600) has seen his odds shorten from opening at +1800 as the California native is third in the field with 5.4 percent of the bets backing him to win. He has finished T13 or T14 in three consecutive starts, including Torrey Pines last week.
–Xander Schauffele (+1200), a San Diego native, finished T3 at the 2019 U.S. Open at Pebble Beach. He opened at +1400 but has also seen his odds shorten with 2.8 percent of the total bets backing him.
–Jordan Spieth (+1800) won the event in 2018 and is teeing it up for the first time since a solo third at The Sentry. He is BetMGM’s biggest liability this week as Spieth leads the field in both total bets (9.0 percent) and money (15.9 percent). Spieth has also been the most popular play at DraftKings, where he leads the field with 14 and 6 percent of the action, respectively.
–Patrick Cantlay (+1800) hasn’t been in great form of late with a T52 and a T56 the past two weeks. That hasn’t deterred the public, who have backed him with 7.8 percent of the money wagered at BetMGM and 8 percent at DraftKings.
–Justin Thomas (+2500) arrives at Pebble Beach enjoying a resurgence as his scoring average his past 11 rounds has been 66.64, compared to 71.09 the previous 32. He’s the book’s second-biggest liability while being second with 5.4 percent of the total bets backing him.
–Tommy Fleetwood (+4000) is still seeking that elusive first victory on U.S. soil. Could this be the week? Fleetwood backed up a win at the Dubai Invitational with a T14 at the Dubai Desert Classic, and his longshot odds have made him a popular pick as BetMGM’s third-biggest liability this week.
–Rose (+6600) is the defending champion and also tied for third at the ’19 U.S. Open. While he has enjoyed success at Pebble, Rose has a T40, a T56 and a T57 in his first three events of 2024.

NOTES
–This is the second signature event of the year, featuring an 80-player field and no cut. The pro-am portion is contested over both courses on Thursday and Friday, with only the professionals competing at Pebble Beach over the weekend.
–The field includes 49 of the top 50 players in the FedEx Cup standings along with the Aon Next 10 from the FedEx Cup Fall and Eligibility Points List. Hojgaard is in the field as the top player not otherwise exempt from the 2023 Race to Dubai, and Nick Dunlap will make his first start since turning professional last week following his win at The American Express.
–Peter Malnati, Maverick McNealy, Adam Scott and Webb Simpson are in the field as sponsor exemptions, and Thomas earned a spot for being in the top 30 in the Official World Golf Ranking (No. 26).
–The field was completed with nine players from Nos. 61 and beyond from the FedEx Cup Fall and Eligibility Points List: Alex Noren, Thomas Detry, Mark Hubbard, Erik van Rooyen, Brandon Wu, Davis Riley, S.H. Kim, Keith Mitchell, Hayden Buckley.
–17 players in the field have yet to qualify for the third signature event, the Genesis Invitational.
–Brandt Snedeker holds the tournament scoring record of 265 set in 2015.
