Pelicans cruise to blowout, end Kings’ 6-game win streak

Brandon Ingram scored 31 points, Zion Williamson added 26 and the host New Orleans Pelicans ended the Sacramento Kings’ six-game winning streak with a 129-93 victory on Monday night.

Williamson scored 18 points in the second quarter to help the Pelicans take a 13-point halftime lead, and Ingram scored 18 third-quarter points as the lead expanded to 31 at the end of the period.

Herbert Jones added 18 points, Jonas Valanciunas had 10 points and 13 rebounds while falling three assists shy of a triple-double and Naji Marshall scored 11 points for the Pelicans.

Harrison Barnes scored 16 points, De’Aaron Fox had 14, Domantas Sabonis added 10 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists and Kevin Huerter and JaVale McGee each scored 10 points for the Kings.

New Orleans outshot Sacramento from the floor (54.3 percent to 37.9 percent) and from beyond the arc (42.9 percent to 24.4 percent) and held a 55-36 advantage in rebounds.

The Pelicans will play host to the Kings again on Wednesday night to end a six-game homestand, while Sacramento will be playing the fifth game of a six-game road trip.

Ingram scored 15 points during a 21-4 run to start the third quarter, giving New Orleans an 87-57 lead midway through the period. The Pelicans led by as many as 41 points in the fourth quarter.

All five starters scored as the Pelicans raced to a 17-5 lead.

Fox and Keegan Murray each made a 3-pointer during a 10-2 run that pulled the Kings within 19-15.

New Orleans rebuilt the lead to eight points before Sabonis and McGee each scored four points to help Sacramento take a 31-29 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The score was tied four times in the second quarter before Jones and Ingram each made a 3-pointer during a 14-1 run that gave the Pelicans a 61-48 lead.

Williamson scored four of New Orleans’ final five points to finish the first half with 22 points, and the Pelicans held a 66-53 halftime lead.
