Payton Pritchard scored a career-high 43 points and Derrick White tossed in a career-high 41 to lead the short-handed Boston Celtics to a 128-118 victory over the visiting Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday night.

It was the first time in franchise history that two Boston players scored 40-plus points in the same game.

Pritchard, who came off the bench, was 14 of 20 from the field, including 10 of 16 from 3-point territory. He also had 10 rebounds and five rebounds while finishing one shy of Marcus Smart’s single-game franchise record for 3-pointers.

White was 14 of 26 from the field and made 9 of 17 3-point attempts. Boston, which has won two in a row, shot 42.6 percent from 3-point territory (23 of 54).

Three Celtics missed the game with injuries: Jrue Holiday (finger), Kristaps Porzingis (illness) and Jayson Tatum (shoulder). Tatum entered the game as the NBA’s No. 6 scorer (26.8 ppg). Holiday and Porzingis each missed their third straight game.

Anfernee Simons led Portland with 30 points. Shaedon Sharpe added 25 points and six rebounds and Jabari Walker contributed 22 points and six rebounds. Walker made each of his six 3-point attempts.

Al Horford had 12 points and nine rebounds for Boston.

The Celtics had a 31-26 lead after one quarter and a 66-55 advantage at halftime. White scored 24 points (six 3-pointers) in the first 24 minutes, and Pritchard was 5 of 9 from beyond the arc as part of his 18 first-half points.

Boston owned a 102-82 edge entering the final quarter, but Portland trimmed its deficit to 124-116 with 2:35 to play.

The Trail Blazers lost despite shooting 40.0 percent from 3-point territory (16 of 40). Portland is 4-2 on its seven-game road trip and that wraps up Friday at Oklahoma City.
