Pascal Siakam, Raptors top Pacers in high-scoring affair

Pascal Siakam scored 36 points, and the visiting Toronto Raptors defeated the Indiana Pacers 132-131 Wednesday night at Indianapolis.

Dennis Schroder added 26 points for the Raptors, who split a two-game road trip.

Scottie Barnes had 20 points and 12 rebounds and made key points down the stretch. OG Anunoby had 13 points, and Malachi Flynn had 14 points.

Tyrese Haliburton had 33 points and 16 assists for the Pacers, while Buddy Hield added 31 points. Myles Turner had 17 points, Obi Toppin scored 16 points and Bruce Brown added 14 points.

The Pacers took a one-point lead into the fourth quarter.

Indiana took a five-point lead on Brown’s layup with 5:53 to play. Toronto scored the next four points, but Haliburton’s 3-pointer gave Indiana a seven-point lead with 4:00 remaining.

Toronto came back to take a one-point lead on Anunoby’s 3-pointer with 1:22 to play. Hield made a layup before Siakam’s two free throws restored Toronto’s one-point lead with 35.9 seconds left.

Haliburton came back with an eight-footer. Barnes answered for Toronto with a dunk and free throw with 27 seconds left. Toronto led by three on one free throw by Barnes with 16.6 seconds left. Haliburton made two free throws, but Hield missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Schroder’s 3-pointer put Toronto into a 66-59 lead with 1:27 left in the first half. Turner made a 3-pointer to beat the buzzer to cut Toronto’s lead to 68-65 at halftime.

Toronto shot 62.8 percent (27-for-43) in the first half, with Siakam scoring 19 points.

The Pacers shot 53.3 percent (24-for-45) from the field, with Hield scoring 19 points.

Siakam’s layup and free throw gave Toronto a one-point lead with 2:05 left in the third quarter. Toronto led by three on two free throws by Trent with 56.8 seconds left. The Pacers took a 101-100 lead on Haliburton’s layup to finish the third-quarter scoring.

Toronto was without Precious Achiuwa (sore right knee).

Indiana played without Andrew Nembhard (sore lower back) and Aaron Nesmith (sprained right wrist).
