On Thursday, about a week before its quarterly earnings report release, Paramount Pictures (PARA) reiterated that it wants people to watch films in movie theaters. The president of domestic distribution made a dramatic appearance at CinemaCon, during their presentation at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas.
Chris Aronson, who is the domestic distribution president at Paramount Pictures, literally rose through the stage from a sewer gate. He wore an orange eye mask similar to the one worn by the iconic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Michelangelo. He carried a pizza box.

Aronson told the CinemaCon audience that there should be a focus on long-term health rather than short-term gains by movie studios and exhibitors. He noted that there was a lot of work to be done and that they should not make “any friction” a reason that would prevent audiences from watching studio movies in theaters.
He wanted studio houses and exhibitors to work together in order to bring more moviegoers to theaters. He added that studio houses would keep their “end of the bargain” by delivering “unparalleled big screen entertainment.” This synergy could help audiences flock to theaters for entertainment instead of watching movies in the comfort of their homes.
