This spring, get ready for one more music streaming service as Viacom – CBS is launching Paramount+, its music streaming service. On Wednesday, February 24, it also publicized its inaugural music programs.
Bruce Gilmer, Viacom – CBS president of music said that they were thrilled to reinvent some of their most storied and impactful music franchises. He added that they will partner with some of the biggest names across the industry to bring “exclusive and unique content to the platform.”
On March 4, 2021, Viacom – CBS is rebranding CBS All Access as Paramount+. It will be available online on the Paramount Plus website, through the Paramount+ app for iOS and Android. It will also be available across other platforms including Smart TVs, gaming consoles, mobiles, connected TV devices and also leading OTT providers.
Some of the programs in the available slate will include:
- Behind the Music
- Unplugged
- Yo! MTV Raps
- From Cradle to Stage
Behind the Music, an iconic documentary series, will return with new episodes. Some of the best ones in the vault will be remastered and updated for current audiences.
MTV Unplugged series, a popular program will also be streamed. It features renowned artistes performing their biggest hits and blockbusters as acoustic or “unplugged” versions. Many of the performers have released the music in the show as live albums and some even won music awards.
Yo! MTV Raps was the first hip hop show on MTV. The show will continue to dig deep into the genre and contain hosted segments, live performances, cyphers as well as lifestyle content.
Director Dave Grohl will introduce a new, six-part series. This unscripted series is inspired by his mom’s famous book From Cradle to Stage: Stories from the Mothers Who Rocked and Raised Rock Stars. The book by Virginia Hanlon Grohl features Grohl and his mom’s unique relationship.
Each episode will feature the relationship between a famous rocker and their mom.
All these programs and more will be available by next month.
