Buckingham Palace has confirmed that the king and queen will visit the US to join its 250th anniversary of Independence from British rule. Following this visit, the royal couple will also visit Bermuda.
Buckingham Palace said, “Their majesties’ programme will celebrate the historic connections and the modern bilateral relationship between the United Kingdom and the United States.”
President Donald Trump said that the visit by the royal couple will begin on April 27 and the White House will host them at a banquet dinner the following day.
Trump posted his thoughts on Truth Social. He said, “I look forward to spending time with the King, who I greatly respect. It will be TERRIFIC.”
President Trump is very fond of the British monarchs as his mother used to keenly follow the royal family. He has often expressed his respect and praise for the family, including late Queen Elizabeth II, King Charles, Prince William, and Princess Catherine.
King Charles III and Queen Camilla will be in the United States from April 27 to April 30, 2026. The King is scheduled to address Congress on April 28 and also attend a White House banquet following which they will travel to Bermuda.
President Donald Trump had invited the king and queen to celebrate the 250th anniversary of American independence. This is King Charles’s first visit to the US after he became the monarch of the United Kingdom. He has visited the US 19 times, but this is his first state visit.
The late Queen Elizabeth II has visited the US several times, although her last visit was more than a decade ago.
The British government acknowledges the soft power of the royals and the upcoming visit is expected to smoothen and strengthen the relationship between the US and the UK.
