Oppenheimer Raises Price Target on Domino’s Pizza Stock

0

Analysts at Oppenheimer increased Domino’s Pizza (NYSE:DPZ) price target to $450 from $427 and maintained their Outperform rating.
The analysts see Domino’s as a comeback story for 2024, with potential for better-than-expected same-store sales and positive earnings revisions, unit growth, and investor confidence.
They had previously been less bullish but now believe the downward trend has bottomed out, although they don’t anticipate a Q3/23 upside surprise.

Microsoft Upgraded at Guggenheim, No Longer Any Sell Ratings on the Stock

0

Guggenheim analysts changed their rating on Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) shares, upgrading them from Sell to Neutral. As a result, there are no longer any analysts on the sell side providing a Sell or equivalent rating for Microsoft.
The analysts acknowledged that their previous recommendation to sell Microsoft was a significant misjudgment. The analysts admitted their mistake, stating that they had reservations about potential challenges that, in the end, did not materialize. Nevertheless, they find the positive outlook for Generative AI too strong to ignore.
These challenges encompassed difficulties faced by the Windows operating system and the broader PC market, which initially saw a boost in demand during the COVID-19 pandemic but eventually revealed that this surge was unsustainable, according to the analysts.

DraftKings Stock Gains 3 percent Following JPMorgan Upgrade

0

DraftKings (NASDAQ:DKNG) shares saw more than 3% increase intra-day today after an upgrade by JPMorgan.
The bank upgraded the company from Neutral to Overweight and raised the price target from $26 to $37, suggesting a potential 35% upside from the previous day’s closing price.
The upgrade comes in response to DraftKings’ underperformance since July, with a 13% decline compared to a 6% drop in the S&P 500. The analysts are optimistic about the sports betting industry’s growth potential, both in existing markets and new markets, amid a trend toward better cost control.
The analysts believe DraftKings has a strong competitive position, including a robust product, scale, and brand, that will enable it to compete effectively against new entrants like ESPNBet and Fanatics.

LSU’s Kim Mulkey underwent heart procedure in June

LSU women’s basketball coach Kim Mulkey said she underwent a potential life-saving procedure this summer after doctors “accidentally” discovered a blocked artery in her heart.

Mulkey, 61, says the doctors found a coronary artery that had near-complete blockage. She ended up having two stents put into a coronary artery in late June despite previously having no idea that she had any heart issues.

“I never even felt bad,” Mulkey said, via ESPN. “I’m still kind of in shock that we accidentally found this. So my message in sharing this is, if you’re over 50, go get a stress test.

“I’ve had some of my former teammates tell me, ‘We’re going to do it.’ That’s why I share these things. I’m an open book if it’s something that can help people. It’s just a great lesson for all of us who think that it won’t happen to us.”

Mulkey admitted the chain of events began after she asked her doctor to perform a scan on her neck as a follow-up to disc-replacement surgery she had in 2018. Although that test displayed no issues, a radiologist called a few days later to note that plaque existed on her carotid arteries — prompting Mulkey to visit a cardiologist.

“He said, let’s put you on the treadmill and do a stress test,” Mulkey said. “Then he said, ‘I don’t like the way this isn’t pumping faster; it looks like there’s a little blockage going on. We’ve got to do a cath.'”

Mulkey led LSU to a national championship in April.

She then agreed to a 10-year, $32 million contract extension earlier this month, making her the highest-paid women’s college basketball coach in the nation. Per ESPN, UConn coach Geno Auriemma and South Carolina coach Dawn Staley both make $3 million per year.

Mulkey won three national championships during her time as the head coach at Baylor. She took over at LSU for the 2021-22 season, and after the Tigers exited in the second round of the 2022 NCAA Tournament, they captured the championship this year.

In two seasons at LSU, Mulkey has a 60-8 record, following her 632-104 mark at Baylor.

Mulkey was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2020 — 20 years after she was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame.

USC coach: Bronny James ‘doing very well’ but not practicing

Southern California freshman Bronny James did not participate in the Trojans’ first practice of the season Monday, but coach Andy Enfield said James is attending class and doing well.

James, son of LeBron James, suffered cardiac arrest during a July 24 workout. The family later released a statement saying a congenital heart defect was discovered as the likely cause of James’ cardiac arrest, and the defect can be treated.

“Bronny’s doing very well,” Enfield told reporters at USC’s first practice. “But we just can’t comment on anything medically. He’s going to class and doing extremely well in school, and we’re really excited for him.”

Enfield would not provide a potential update or timetable for James’ return to basketball activities.

“He’s around (the team) when he can be,” Enfield said of James on Monday. “And he’s getting caught up (with) some schoolwork and doing very well. His grades are excellent right now, and he’s being the true student-athlete.”

Enfield did say James would be “a very valuable part of our basketball team” in 2023-24.

James was a McDonald’s All-American and a four- or five-star prospect in the Class of 2023, depending on the outlet. The 247Sports composite ranked him No. 22 overall in his class and the No. 5 combo guard.

USC had a freshman player suffer cardiac arrest last summer as well, Vincent Iwuchukwu. He was able to return by January and played in 14 games as a freshman.

Alabama lands commitment from 5-star C Aiden Sherrell

Aiden Sherrell, a five-star center prospect, became the first prospect in the Class of 2024 to commit to Alabama on Tuesday.

Sherrell chose coach Nate Oats and the Crimson Tide over Arizona State, Michigan State, Ohio State, Oklahoma and other programs.

Sherrell is the fourth-best center and the No. 22 overall prospect in his class in the 247Sports composite rankings. Listed at 6 feet 10, he will play his senior year of high school at Prolific Prep in California.

“They see me playing position-less basketball and being a big piece for them right away,” Sherrell told 247Sports. “They see me being a NBA prospect.”

MLB News: Ronald Acuna Jr. socks Nos. 38 and 39 as Braves trip Phils

Spencer Strider struck out 11 batters and Ronald Acuna Jr. hit two home runs to help the Atlanta Braves end their four-game losing streak with a 9-3 win over the visiting Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday.

Atlanta (97-54) avoided what would have been its first five-game losing streak since September 2017. Philadelphia (82-69) dropped to 4-8 against the Braves this season.

Strider (18-5) pitched seven innings and allowed three runs — all coming on Bryce Harper’s 19th home run in the sixth — on four hits and no walks. He improved his career record against Philadelphia to 8-0 with a 1.90 ERA.

Strider passed Hall of Famer Phil Niekro for the second-most strikeouts in a season by a Braves pitcher in the modern era (since 1900). Strider has fanned 270 batters in 176 innings. Niekro had 262 strikeouts in 330 1/3 innings in 1977. John Smoltz owns the team’s single-season record with 276 in 253 2/3 innings in 1996.

Acuna, on “Ronald Acuna Bat Flip Bobblehead Night,” went 3-for-5 with his 38th and 39th homers, his fourth multi-homer game of the season.

Acuna’s first homer came on the first pitch of the first inning from Cristopher Sanchez. It was the 33rd leadoff home run of Acuna’s career, his seventh of the season. It was the 13th time he socked a leadoff homer on the first pitch, the third time this year.

Acuna added another solo homer to open the sixth inning, leaving him one home run shy of becoming the fifth player with 40 homers and 40 steals in the same season. It also accounted for his 100th RBI. Acuna also has 67 stolen bases. He is on the verge of becoming the first player to collect 40-plus homers and 50-plus steals in a season.

Sanchez (2-5) pitched four innings and allowed three runs on seven hits and one walk. He struck out two.

The Braves got a two-run single in the fourth inning from Kevin Pillar. They broke the game open in the fifth with a four-run outburst produced by a bases-loaded walk to Matt Olson, a two-run double from Marcell Ozuna and a sacrifice fly from Orlando Arcia. Ozuna went 3-for-4 with three RBIs.

MLB News: Joey Meneses’ pinch-hit blast lifts Nats over White Sox

Pinch hitter Joey Meneses belted a go-ahead, three-run homer in the seventh inning to lift the Washington Nationals past the visiting Chicago White Sox 4-3 on Tuesday night.

Down 3-1, Washington put runners on first and third with one out in the seventh against reliever Aaron Bummer (4-5). After Bummer fanned Drew Millas, Bryan Shaw took over on the mound and Meneses greeted him by hitting his 12th homer of the season.

The Nationals (67-85) won for the second time in their past eight games.

Luis Robert Jr. and Yoan Moncada homered for the White Sox (58-94), who took their sixth loss in eight games.

Chicago trailed 4-2 before rallying in the ninth against Kyle Finnegan, with Robert’s leadoff double and Moncada’s one-out single producing a run. The game ended with two runners on base, as Elvis Andrus lined out to right to seal Finnegan’s 26th save.

White Sox starter Jose Urena pitched six strong innings and was in line to notch his first victory since August 2022, when he was pitching for the Colorado Rockies. Urena, who is 0-6 combined with the Rockies and the White Sox this year, held the Nationals to one run and four hits while striking out four without a walk.

Nationals right-hander Jackson Rutledge made his second career major league appearance, and this one went much better. He yielded only six hits, though two of those were homers, and two runs in 6 1/3 innings. He walked one and struck out two. In his debut last Wednesday at Pittsburgh, Rutledge yielded seven runs on 10 hits in 3 2/3 innings.

Moncada broke a 1-1 tie with his ninth home run of the season on Rutledge’s first pitch of the inning.

Robert Garcia (2-2) got the win after retiring both batters he faced to complete the top of the seventh.

Robert, who went 3-for-4, hit his 37th home run of the season in the fourth inning for a 1-0 Chicago lead. He had gone his first 12 September games without a long ball before hitting one out Monday as the White Sox won the opener of the three-game series 6-1.

Washington tied the game in the sixth when Jacob Young led off with a triple and scored two batters later on a sacrifice fly from Lane Thomas.

INDY News: IndyCar to return to Milwaukee Mile in 2024

The much-anticipated return of the Milwaukee Mile is part of the 17-race schedule for the 2024 IndyCar season.

The schedule, which was released Monday, also features a pair of Saturday night races and a made-for-television $1 million All-Star event on March 24 in Southern California.

The season finale will be held Nashville, Tenn., while the customary stop at Texas Motor Speedway is off the slate for the first time since IndyCar’s first full season in 1997.

The Milwaukee Mile, however, is back on the schedule for the first time since 2015. It will be held on Aug. 31-Sept. 1.

“There is such a great tradition and history of IndyCar racing at the Milwaukee Mile, and we are excited to build on that legacy,” said Roger Penske, chairman of Penske Corp. and owner of both IndyCar and Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

“We appreciate all the loyal and passionate IndyCar fans in Milwaukee and across the state of Wisconsin, and thanks to our partnership with the Wisconsin State Fair Park, we can’t wait to return to the Mile next season.”

The season begins March 10 in Florida with the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg and concludes Sept. 15 in Nashville. The 108th Indianapolis 500 will be run May 26.

“2023 was a record-breaking season for the NTT IndyCar Series,” IndyCar president Jay Frye said. “For the first time, 27 starters competed at each event, and on-track passing records were broken at six racetracks. IndyCar remains the most diverse and competitive championship in motorsports. We cannot wait to see how the 2024 season plays out beginning on the Streets of St. Pete.”
