Natural language understanding is a very tough problem and we’ve all been trying to apply AI here. So it’s understandable why FB tried to set up AI to communicate using natural language, and of course it is difficult – like most AI efforts in this domain.
Imagine you’ve set up neural nets to detect images of gorilla faces and it ends up matching a human face to it. That won’t mean AI is planning to turn gorillas into humans. Anyone who understands how AI works will know these outcomes aren’t scary. They just show AI still has a long way to go.

George Clooney’s foundation is planning to open 7 public schools for 3,000 Syrian refugee children in Lebanon.

He is an absolute class act! And now her too. Great, wonderful, fabulous, giving, caring humans! We need more like them in this world.

“George and Amal Clooney said in a statement Monday that the foundation’s commitment of more than $2 million toward education for Syrian refugees aims to prevent thousands of young people from becoming “a lost generation.”

“They have been victims of geography and circumstance, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t hope,” the couple wrote in a statement provided to The Associated Press. “Our goal with this initiative is to help provide Syrian refugee children with an education and put them on a path to be the future leaders their generation desperately needs.”

Cristiano Ronaldo appeared in court in Pozuelo de Alarcon, Madrid. After 90 minutes declaring in front of the judge, with no need for a translator, Ronaldo seemed calm and relaxed.
‘If my name weren’t Cristiano Ronaldo, I wouldn’t be sitting here’, are some of the supposed words uttered by the superstar in the court session.
In that hour and a half, there could have been moments of tension between the judge and the footballer under investigation.
One of the player’s representatives was the one to announce to the media present outside the courthouse that the player would be making no public statements as he was on his way home.

Facebook has added a new feature to the Messenger App.

The thing is Messenger day is not an option for Facebook business pages, but it is an option if you use your personal profile page for ‘some’ of your business. Whether that is adding clients and customers, or possibly utilizing Facebook groups for community building, and leads.

Facebook is also adding a vertical version of its content carousels that businesses can use to show multiple products with the top-most item displayed more prominently. And finally brands can incorporate Messenger on their sites, so that when someone is in the process of buying something or registering an account, the brand could prompt them to receive messages from the brand on Messenger, like shipping information or product updates. Brands have the ability to opt people into receiving these messages by default or leaving it up to the people to decide whether they want to opt in.

Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos has become the world’s richest person, surpassing Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates. Bezos isn’t slowing down either. Amazon recently acquired Whole Foods and is planning to dominate the grocery space as well.

Amazon, Apple, and Alphabet (Google) are in a race to become the first trillion-dollar company. And, for a least a while today, on paper, Jeff Bezos surpassed Bill Gates as the world’s richest person.

Bill Gates would still be the planet’s richest person if he hadn’t been so generous with his fortune.
