Spanish teenager Carlos Alcaraz became the youngest player in 17 years to crack the top 10 of the ATP rankings, ascending to No. 9 in the latest release Monday.
Alcaraz, 18, is fresh off his victory over countryman Pablo Carreno Busta in the finals of the Barcelona Open Banc Sabadell on Sunday, his third victory of the season.
Alcaraz jumps two spots to become the ninth-youngest player ever into the Top 10 and the youngest to achieve the feat since fellow Spaniard Rafael Nadal did it on April 25, 2005.
Aaron Krickstein remains the youngest to have done it; he had just turned 17 when he cracked the top 10 in August 1984.
Novak Djokovic remains No. 1 after his runner-up finish at the Serbia Open.

Celebrity Rapper, singer, and songwriter, Travis Scott, whose Astroworld concert turned into a tragedy, is slowly making his way back into the music industry with the release of “Hold That Heat,” the celebrity’s first official track since the tragic incident.
The 30-year-old released the song on Friday, in collaboration with producer Southside and rapper Future, more than five months after ten concertgoers, including a 9-year-old boy, were killed in a crowd surge at his Houston music festival on November 5.
The rapper said he has taken time to “grieve, reflect, and do my part to heal my community” when he announced the effort in March.
The new song follows Scott’s appearance on Kanye West’s album Donda 2’s song “Pablo.” Despite the fact that the album was launched in February, it was only available for streaming on West’s Stem Player.
In a new music video released to go with the latest song, Scott is first seen hanging out in a hallway, clutching a metal chain around the neck of an alligator. For the chorus, he raps the same line over and over again: ‘Hold that, hold that heater.’ A gun is referred to as a ‘heater’ in slang.
Scott gets on a couch with Future later in the video, and the two consume marijuana together while the singer continues to rap, while a striptease show goes on.
There are several references in the song, including one to his future album, Utopia. ‘Six months down in Cabo,’ he rapped, alluding to reports that he’s been going back and forth from a studio in Mexico.
While the star made several references to drugs and booze in the song, he did not appear to discuss Astroworld tragedy or his recent reclusiveness.
Following the tragedy, Scott offered to cover the costs of the victims’ funerals. Several of the victims’ families, though, turned down his offer. Scott initiated a number of community-based philanthropic projects months later, including Project HEAL, an event safety task.
Scott is now the target of a far larger lawsuit, with 2,800 people named as plaintiffs. In January, roughly 400 lawsuits were consolidated into one enormous case that will be heard by a single judge. While he has been out of the spotlight for the past few months, the Out West singer has been dealing with major family changes.
In February, he and his partner Kylie Jenner welcomed their second child, a boy, into the world. The celebrities gave him the name Wolf at first, the pair then changed their minds and indicated they would replace it, though they have not revealed the new name yet. Stormi Webster, the couple’s first child, was born on February 1, 2018.

Michigan freshman Moussa Diabate plans to enter the 2022 NBA Draft, but without signing with an agent to retain the option of returning to the Wolverines.
He averaged 9.0 points and 6.2 rebounds per game for the Wolverines in 2021-22.
Diabate was widely expected to return to Ann Arbor, especially after All-Big Ten forward Hunter Dickinson announced Sunday he’d be back.
“It’s been my dream to take my game to the next level,” Diabate said in a statement. “With that in mind, I feel now is the right time to explore the NBA draft evaluation process. I am excited to learn and go through the processes I have heard so much about. It is important to me to say the support and guidance of coach (Juwan) Howard and the staff has given me has been such a gift.”
The 6-foot-10 forward has until June 1 to decide whether to remain in the NBA draft.
His best performance was a 28-point effort at Iowa on Feb. 17 when he made 12 of 15 shot attempts, gathered eight rebounds and had one block.

Top Class of 2024 college basketball recruit Naasir Cunningham is headed to Overtime Elite in Atlanta to focus his training on a future in the NBA, ESPN reported on Monday.
Cunningham plans to forgo a salary at the academy, which has investors including Kevin Durant, Trae Young and Jeff Bezos, to maintain college eligibility, per the report. The NCAA approved a “scholarship” option for the 16-to-18-year-old athletes in the program.
At 6-feet-7, Cunningham is a wing player with good shooting range and the highest-ranked prospect to sign with the burgeoning league. ESPN projections rate Cunningham as a future lottery pick.
Overtime Elite (OTE) includes academic programs and a focus on growing future professional athletes.
“This is best place for me to develop as a player, while getting the right education to fall back on at the same time,” Cunningham said in an ESPN interview. “Overtime built a relationship with my family and I, which was a big factor in trusting them with my future. I want to be the best basketball player I can, a NBA draft lottery pick and hopefully one of the best in the league. Overtime is going to put me in position to become the best player I can.”
Duke, Kansas, St. John’s, Michigan State, LSU, Maryland and several other programs have offered scholarships to Cunningham.
The New Jersey native has two years of high school remaining and is permitted to profit off of name, image and likeness agreements. Other top recruits, namely Mikey Williams and Bronny James, have tapped into NIL offerings that could be worth at least hundreds of thousands and potentially more than a million dollars.
“At Overtime you still get the same academics as a regular high school,” Cunningham said. “But not every school has the same equipment and facilities they do, which are top of the line, as well as the best trainers, coaching staff and other elite players. Competing against the best and working with the best there is, that’s what will help me reach my goals.”

Washington Capitals forward Alex Ovechkin is day-to-day with an upper-body injury that forced him out of Sunday’s game against Toronto in the third period.
The Capitals return to the ice Tuesday to face the New York Islanders.
On a breakaway two minutes into the third period, Ovechkin lost his footing after tripping over Toronto goalie Erik Kallgren’s stick. Ovechkin went shoulder first into the boards and left the game.
“I think he skated into my stick and tripped on it. So it was not my intention to trip him and I hope he’s well,” Kallgren said after the game. “… Obviously, he was frustrated. I didn’t mean to trip him. I didn’t mean to cause an injury so I hope he’s fine.”
Ovechkin, who has 50 goals this season, has missed two games this season, both due to COVID-19 in February.
The Capitals lost to the Leafs in a shootout and are three points behind the Boston Bruins for the first wild card in the Eastern Conference.
The 36-year-old Ovechkin is currently 21 goals behind Gordie Howe (801) for second all-time.
