The Los Angeles Gladiators and Boston Uprising won their upper-bracket semifinal matches on Friday as the Overwatch League’s West Region Spring Stage Knockouts got underway.

The Gladiators swept the Florida Mayhem 3-0, and the Uprising edged the Washington Justice 3-2.

The teams that finished third through 10th in the monthlong qualifying round are competing in the double-elimination knockout round, with two places in Midseason Madness on the line. The Atlanta Reign and Houston Outlaws booked their spots in Midseason Madness by finishing first and second, respectively, in qualifying.

Los Angeles and Boston will square off on Saturday, with the winner nabbing a Midseason Madness berth. The loser will compete in the lower-bracket final on Sunday.

The Gladiators downed the Mayhem 2-0 on Oasis, 3-2 on Hollywood and 3-2 on Junkertown.

The Justice opened with a 1-0 win on Antarctic Peninsula before the Uprising captured Hollywood 2-1 and Shambali Monastery 2-1. Washington extended the match with a 1-0 win on New Queen Street, but Boston sealed the series by taking Lijiang Tower 2-1.

In lower-bracket action on Friday, the San Francisco Shock defeated the Vancouver Titans 3-2, and the New York Excelsior got past the Toronto Defiant 3-1.

The Shock started with a 2-0 win on Ilios before the Titans responded with a 3-1 victory on Blizzard World and a 3-2 triumph on Havana. San Francisco rallied for a 1-0 win on Esperanca and a 2-0 victory on Oasis.

The Excelsior captured Lijiang Tower 2-1, and the Defiant equalized with a 2-1 victory on Blizzard World. New York then claimed Havana 5-3 and New Queen Street 1-0.

On Saturday, Florida will face off with San Francisco while Washington will clash with New York.
