OTHER News: Parker White wins at Phoenix, lands in eNASCAR’s Championship 4

Parker White secured a spot in the eNASCAR Coca-Cola iRacing Series’ Championship 4 on Tuesday night, prevailing at a virtual Phoenix Raceway in the penultimate race of the season.

White hadn’t taken a checkered flag this year, reaching the playoffs based off his point total. He will go for a title against Steven Wilson, Graham Bowlin and Bobby Zalenski when the drivers meet at a virtual Homestead-Miami Speedway on Oct. 1. That race will be held live from the NASCAR Hall of Fame in Charlotte.

Wilson was last year’s champion.

“To win this race, it means so much to me,” said White, who lives in Norridgewock, Maine, and drives the No. 53 Chevrolet. “I executed qualifying very well, I was able to start up front and just from there, staying on the bottom on the restarts — that’s very important.”

Donovan Strauss, in the No. 51 Chevrolet, came in second, 0.464 seconds behind White. Vicente Salas (No. 11 Toyota), Zack Novak (No. 5 Chevrolet) and Femi Olatunbosun (No. 22 Chevrolet) landed in third, fourth and fifth, respectively.

“I was frustrated last year and I’m honestly frustrated again that we can perform so well in the last four races and then for some reason we just can’t win one of the first 14 races,” said Strauss, a Marietta, Ga., resident. “Regardless, me and Parker did a hell of a job. We race in the same voice channel and we worked really well together all night.”
