The Academy Awards 2024 nominations list is out, and there are some hits, misses, and surprises in all categories. The Oscars will be held in March this year. Still, they will lose some of their usual star power as big names of actors, actresses, and directors go missing. At the same time, those who didn’t receive nominations in other significant awards held earlier have been cut.

Here is a list of celebrity actors, actresses, directors, movies, singers, and musical scores that have been snubbed or surprised by getting nominated for the Oscars.

Snubs-
Barbie missed out on editing and sound, best director—Greta Gerwig, and best actress—Margot Robbie.
Killers of the Flower Moon actor Leonardo DiCaprio missed the Best Actor nomination, while Martin Scorsese and Eric Roth didn’t cut Best Adapted Screenplay, though Scorsese was nominated for Best Director.
Willem Dafoe was snubbed for Poor Things, while Charles Melton Julianne More missed out on May-December.
Greta Lee misses lead actress for Past Lives.
Penelope Cruz is not nominated in the supporting actress category for Ferrari.

American Symphony missed out on the best documentary feature.
Lenny Kravitz loses out on the best original song for Rustin for track Road to Freedom, while Mica Levi loses out on the best original score for The Zone of Interest.

Annette Bening was nominated for lead actress for Nyad.
America Ferrera was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for Barbie, and Gerwig was nominated as producer of Barbie in the Best Picture category. Ryan Gosling was nominated for Best Supporting Actor.
Colman Domingo gets nominated for best actor for the biopic Rustin.
May December won a nomination for Best Original Screenplay.
Sterling K. Brown gets the first Oscar nomination for best-supporting actor for American Fiction.

Oppenheimer leads the Oscars with 13 nominations, followed by Poor Things with 11 nominations. Killers of the Flower Moon got ten nominations, and Barbie earned eight nominations.
