Vice President Kamala Harris has been handed one more role in the growing list of functions that she has to handle. Her current workload is a set of diverse issues including the border –March 24, the Pro-Union task Force – April 26, Broadband – April 29, Space –May 1, Voting Rights – June 1, Vaccine Tour – June 2 and Child Tax Credit – June 6.
President Biden assigned the difficult task of stopping migration across the border with Mexico to his VP. Harris has visited Guatemala and Mexico a few weeks ago but said that issues could not be resolved in two days. She has said that she will visit the border after facing flak from Republicans and the media
She was also assigned to help with voting rights and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has said that the senate will give a vote to the For the People Act or H.R. 1 which has already passed by the House.
Harris is also leading a nation wise tour to encourage vaccination efforts. She will be joined by a team which includes the First Lady, Second Gentleman, and cabinet secretaries.
Kamala Harris will be the chair of the National Space Council. One official commented that she is likely to focus on getting the job done rather than focusing on big displays such as rocket launches in Florida, which was what her predecessor Pence did, according to a report by ABC News.
Harris is also leading the broadband expansion which had an outlay of $1 billion in Biden’s infrastructure plan although the Republicans are trying to reduce the amount as with other infrastructure proposals.
In late April, President Biden had announced that a pro-labor force would be set up to look into workers’ rights and more. The Vice President is the chair of this force. With her background in law, this is an ideal post and responsibility.
Her latest job is to pitch the President’s ambitious Child Tax Credit in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. She will also meet union leaders and Labor Secretary Marty Walsh.
The Vice President Kamala Harris’ cup brims over with huge responsibilities but she is a very experienced, capable, and educated woman who will take her team along with her as she fulfills the responsibilities President Biden has put in her capable hands.
