Daisy Edgar-Jones delivers a captivating performance as Muriel, a woman caught between loyalty and longing. Her marriage to Will Poulter’s Lee—newly returned from the Korean War—promises stability, but the arrival of Jacob Elordi’s Julius, Lee’s magnetic and self-destructive brother, disrupts their lives.
Elordi brings a restless energy to Julius, whose attraction to a young card shark, Henry (Diego Calva), sends him on a journey of self-discovery and recklessness. Meanwhile, Muriel finds herself drawn into the thrill of betting on racehorses and forging an unexpected connection with her neighbor Sandra (Sasha Calle).
The film thrives on its simmering tension and sun-drenched cinematography, evoking the dust and allure of 1950s America. The love triangle at its center is unconventional yet deeply compelling, with each character navigating personal and societal boundaries.
