Winter Olympian ski jumper Patrick Gasienica died in a motorcycle accident earlier this week. He was 24.
Gasienica perished during a single-occupant crash on Monday night in Bull Valley, Ill., located approximately 60 miles northwest of Chicago. He sustained blunt force trauma and was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital, according to USA Today.
Gasienica was a native of nearby McHenry, Ill.
Gasienica placed 49th in normal hill and 53rd in long hill ski jumping at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. In team ski jumping competition, he was one of four Americans who combined to finish 10th.
