On Friday, arctic air from a winter storm system enveloped most of the East Coast, disrupting holiday travel with heavy snow, blizzard conditions, and critically low temperatures.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a 50-vehicle collision along the Ohio Turnpike resulted in at least four fatalities and several injuries.
Early on Friday afternoon, a multi-vehicle accident along the turnpike occurred in Sandusky County.The storm is accountable for a number of fatalities and wrecked travel arrangements for the holidays. By 6 p.m. ET on Friday, more than 5,000 domestic flights had been canceled, according to the flight monitoring service FlightAware.

Emergency personnel were called to a number of crashes on the eastbound lanes of the Ohio Turnpike between state routes 53 and 4, according to the troopers. Both directions of traffic are being redirected; eastbound traffic is leaving at exit 91, and westbound traffic is leaving at exit 118.
According to the PIO for the Ohio Turnpike and Infrastructure Commission, buses are transporting those who are stuck on the turnpike to the Castalia Maintenance Building.
