Tess Boade scored in the 33rd minute to lift Bay FC to a 1-0 victory over Angel City on Saturday night in San Jose, Calif.
Boade sent Bay FC (5-9-0, 15 points) to their third win in five matches following a five-match skid.
Angel City (4-7-3, 15 points) fell for just the second time in their past five matches. However, two of their matches during that stretch were scoreless draws, and they have been shut out four times in their past seven matches.
It looked like the visitors were going to strike first, as Sydney Leroux put a shot on target in the 15th minute. However, Bay FC goalkeeper Katelyn Rowland was there to make the save, her only stop of the match.
Boade put the hosts in front 18 minutes later with a right-footed strike into the lower left corner of the net. It was her third goal of the season.
Racheal Kundananji nearly gave the hosts some breathing room in the 71st minute, but DiDi Haracic turned back a pair of shots to keep Angel City close. However, they never managed to find the equalizer, even with 10 minutes of stoppage time added on at the end of the second half.
