After falling behind twice in the second half, Racing Louisville battled back to play to a 3-3 tie with the host Kansas City Current on Saturday night.

The Current (6-0-4, 22 points) thought they won the match in the second minute of second-half stoppage time on a goal from Gabrielle Robinson, but Louisville (1-2-6, nine points) drew level 11 minutes later thanks to an equalizer from Savannah DeMelo.

DeMelo initially received possession at midfield before racing past several Kansas City defenders to get into the box, where she fired a shot past Current goalkeeper Adrianna Franch.

Louisville went up in the 18th minute thanks to a goal from Emma Sears. After breaking down the right wing, Sears floated what looked like a cross toward the far post, but the ball bounced off the framework of the goal and into the back of the net for a 1-0 lead.

Kansas City tied the match in the third minute of first-half stoppage time after VAR determined that Vanessa DiBernardo was fouled in the Louisville box. Lo’eau LaBonta then converted the ensuing penalty kick to make it 1-1.

The Current went on to take the lead in the 56th minute on a goal from Michelle Cooper. The chance was created after Kansas City forced a turnover and moved the ball into the Racing Louisville box. Debinha then found Cooper in open space, and Cooper fired a shot into the top left corner of the net.

Louisville tied the match at 2-all in the 68th minute on a header by Abby Erceg, who received the ball off a corner kick by Carson Pickett.
