Emma Sears scored in the first half and Racing Louisville made it hold up while posting a 1-0 victory over the Chicago Red Stars on Saturday night at Bridgeview, Ill.

Katie Lund made five saves while recording her third shutout of the season for Racing Louisville (2-2-6, 12 points). The victory was the first for Louisville since a 5-1 win over the Utah Royals on April 20.

The Red Stars (5-5-1, 16 points) lost their second straight match.

Chicago had a chance to tie the score in the 83rd minute but Lund stopped Penelope Hocking’s close-range right-footed shot.

Mackenzie Wood had three stops for the Red Stars. Wood is filling in for injured Alyssa Naeher, who missed her second straight game due to a thigh injury.

Louisville had a 21-13 edge in shots.

Sears gave Louisville the lead in the 26th minute. She had the ball on the right side and sent a right-footed blast into the top left corner of the net. It is her third goal of the season.

Two minutes later, Louisville had a chance to take a two-goal edge but Elexa Bahr pushed her right-footed shot wide left of the net.

In the 35th minute, Hocking had a major opportunity but her right-footed shot went wide to the left.

The Red Stars didn’t put a single shot on target while being out-shot 13-3 in the first half.
