The Houston Dash announced the transfer Friday of forward Ebony Salmon to Aston Villa FC, joining the English side on a three-year deal.

Salmon, 22, tallied 11 goals in 36 matches across all competitions with the Dash over the past two seasons.

Houston did not disclose the transfer fee for Salmon, an England native who began her career in the Aston Villa youth ranks.

“We wish Ebony the best as she returns home closer to family and pursues a new opportunity,” Dash general manager Alex Singer said. “Since her arrival, Ebony played a key role for the team and was influential in us earning our first playoff appearance. As a club, we wanted to make every effort to support her in this step of her journey.”

Salmon was acquired in a June 2022 trade with Racing Louisville FC. She scored nine goals for the team in 2022 to help Houston make its first NWSL playoff appearance in club history.

“I’ve really enjoyed my time in Houston, a city and a club that gave me an opportunity to do what I enjoy most,” Salmon said. “To everyone involved with the club, thank you for making me feel so welcome from the beginning and for the continued support throughout my time here. I wish the Dash the best of luck in the future.”
