Nvidia (NVDA) makes H100 graphic cards that are in demand as they are used in the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The high-end chips are used to train and deploy AI software. These advanced cards are now selling on eBay (EBAY) at high rates of $40,000 and more. As every tech person or company wants to jump on the AI bandwagon, AI chips are very much in demand and Nvidia controls the majority in the AI chip market.
Former Meta consulting technology chief John Carmack noted the high price of Nvidia chips on a social media platform. On Sunday, as per our observation, there were more than three listings for the H100 Nvidia graphic cards on eBay with rates ranging between 42,000 and 46,000.
Nvidia introduced the A100 chip in 2020 and it was called “workhorse.” In 2022, it introduced the H100, which is more expensive per unit. The H100 is now seeing an increase in volume as many tech and other companies are heavily investing in developing AI.
H100 graphic cards are used by developers to build large language models (LLMs). These LLMs form the heart of AI applications such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT. These systems require powerful computers to process terabytes of data for days or weeks on end. They also require huge amounts of power for the AI model to generate text, images or more.

Hundreds of high end Nvidia GPU have to work together for AI applications such as GPT to work and provide images, data or text. Microsoft reportedly bought tens of thousands of Nvidia A100 chips for hundreds of millions of dollars to help build ChatGPT.
Nvidia is not the only major company that makes GPUs that are used for artificial intelligence. Other tech giants that compete with the company by making their graphic processors include Intel and AMD. Google and Amazon are developing their own chips for use in their AI products. However, Nvidia remains the market leader, and the company has said that it wants to make AI training much faster so companies need a smaller number of Nvidia chips.
