Braeden Shrewsberry scored a game-high 22 points to help Notre Dame end a five-game losing streak by beating Boston College 68-64 Saturday in an ACC contest played in South Bend, Ind.

Notre Dame (11-9, 2-5 ACC) trailed by 11 at halftime, but outscored Boston College 44-29 over the final 20 minutes.

Boston College (9-11, 2-5) was within two points following a Fred Payne basket with two seconds to play, but the Eagles were then called for a technical foul for trying to call a timeout when they didn’t have any remaining. Cole Certa’s two free throws finalized the scoring.

Jalen Haralson added 17 points for Notre Dame, which received six points and a game-high 13 rebounds from Carson Towt.

Payne led Boston College with 18 points. Donald Hand Jr. finished with 17, and Luka Toews had 14. Toews made each of his four 3-point attempts.

In addition to playing without Markus Burton, who missed his 10th straight game with an ankle injury, Notre Dame didn’t have 6-foot-10 forward Kebba Njie, who had season-ending surgery on his left knee earlier this week. Burton was leading Notre Dame in scoring (18.5 ppg) when he was injured during a game against TCU on Dec. 5.

Notre Dame was scoreless until a Shrewsbury jumper made it 8-2 5:15 into the game. A 7-0 run put the Eagles up 18-7 with 11:41 left in the first half and Boston College led 35-24 at halftime.

Notre Dame was 10 of 31 from the field (32.3%) in the first 20 minutes, when the Irish missed 11 of their 13 3-point attempts.

The Irish trailed by 13 early in the second half, but took their first lead of the game when a Certa 3-pointer made it 45-43 with 10:40 to play. A 6-0 run gave Notre Dame a 56-49 lead with 5:59 left.

Boston College made it 64-62 on a Toews 3-pointer, but Shrewsberry made two free throws with seven seconds remaining.
