Trevian Tennyson scored 23 points as No. 25 TCU defended its home court on Tuesday night, defeating No. 15 Texas Tech 85-78 in Fort Worth, Texas.

With 19 seconds left, Texas Tech’s Kerwin Walton swished a 3-pointer, cutting TCU’s lead to 81-78.

But JaKobe Coles converted a pair of free throws with 14 seconds left to make it a five-point game, and he added two more foul shots seven seconds later to seal the victory, the Horned Frogs’ third straight.

Tennyson went 7-for-13 from the field for TCU (16-5, 5-3 Big 12), which also got 18 points and five boards from Micah Peavy.

Texas Tech (16-4, 5-2) saw its two-game winning streak end. Pop Isaacs tallied 25 points and nine assists and Chance McMillian hit five 3-pointers as part of a 19-point outing.

A first half that began with a 5-0 TCU lead saw Texas Tech seize control midway through the period. A 13-2 spurt from the Red Raiders put them in front, 27-16, with 7:26 left.

But TCU scored the next 11 points, tying the score at 27-all nearly three minutes later on a pair of Emanuel Miller free throws. A 10-0 outburst followed soon after, helping the Horned Frogs take a 40-36 edge into the break.

TCU held a narrow lead for the first five minutes of the second half, with the only exception being a 16-second stretch in which Texas Tech had the score knotted at 45. Tennyson answered with a 3-pointer for TCU, seemingly a precursor to the next several minutes.

With 13:54 to go, after McMillian’s layup cut the TCU lead to 53-51, Avery Anderson III sparked a 10-0 run with a 3-pointer. In a 52-second span, the Horned Frogs’ lead ballooned to nine points, and Tennyson capped the surge with a triple to make it 63-51 with 12:12 left.

McMillian and Isaacs hit consecutive 3-pointers to pull the Red Raiders within six with 11:27 remaining, but TCU had the lead up to 11 nearly six minutes later.
