Trey Kaufman-Renn scored 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds Saturday and No. 17 Purdue stifled No. 13 Oregon in the second half for a 65-58 Big Ten Conference road win in Eugene, Ore.

Braden Smith added 15 points, seven assists and four steals for the Boilermakers (15-4, 7-1), who won their seventh straight game despite poor shooting. They made only 19 of 56 field goal attempts (33.9 percent), including 2 of 12 3-pointers.

Purdue made up for it with foul shooting and its ability to stop the Ducks, who canned only 36 percent from the field, including 7 of 29 tries from long range. The Boilermakers sank 25 of 30 free throws.

Nate Bittle scored 18 points and blocked six shots to lead Oregon (15-3, 4-3), which had a three-game winning streak snapped. Jackson Shelstad added 15 points but hit only 4 of 12 from the field, while Brandon Angel contributed 10 points before fouling out in the final minute.

Bittle’s layup to open the second half gave the Ducks a 33-30 lead before Purdue held the hosts scoreless over the next 8:15 to jump ahead 41-33.

Oregon closed within 42-41 on Shelstad’s 3-pointer with nine minutes left but then went cold again, this time going the next 3:45 without a point. Kaufman-Renn rattled off six straight points during that span to boost the Boilermakers ahead by seven.

After the Ducks cut it to four, Purdue scored seven straight points following the final TV timeout. Two free throws by Gicarri Harris with 2:20 left made it 59-48. The Boilermakers hit five foul shots to ice the game after Oregon drew within 60-56.

Neither team led by more than five in a first half that produced nine ties and seven lead changes. The Ducks went to intermission ahead 31-30 when Shelstad converted two foul shots with 33 seconds remaining.

The teams fought their way through a first period with missed shots both ways. Purdue made only 10 of 32 attempts from the field and the Ducks connected on just 8 of 22 shots.

Both found other ways to score. The Boilermakers grabbed eight offensive boards and produced 10 second-chance points, while Oregon hit 12 of 14 free throws.
