Ian Schieffelin scored a career-high 24 points and No. 13 Clemson kept rolling by defeating visiting Notre Dame 83-68 in the Atlantic Coast Conference contest on Wednesday night.

Viktor Lakhin had 18 points, Jake Heidbreder notched 14 off the bench and Jaeden Zackery added 11 for Clemson (23-5, 15-2 ACC), which is one game behind Duke in the conference standings.

The Tigers have a five-game winning streak, including the last four by double-digit margins.

Schieffelin, a senior forward, eclipsed the 1,000-point mark for his career. He made both of his 3-point shots and was 9-for-11 from the field overall. He also collected a game-high nine rebounds.

Markus Burton fired in 30 points and Tae Davis had 15 for Notre Dame (12-16, 6-11), which shot 5-for-16 on 3-point attempts. The Irish had won two of their previous four games.

Notre Dame was within 62-53 thanks to a 7-0 run before Heidbreder had five points in a mini-spurt that stretched the Tigers’ lead to 69-55 with seven minutes to play. Heidbreder finished with four 3-pointers.

Clemson reached 23 wins for the third consecutive year.

The Tigers, who committed only four turnovers, finished with 23 assists on 30 baskets. The assist total was one shy of their season-high set Saturday at SMU.

Burton, who also supplied five assists, did much of his work at the free-throw line, going 12-for-13. He was 8-for-19 with a pair of 3-point baskets from the field.

Clemson led 41-31 at halftime despite Burton’s 17 points, aided in part by going 8-for-8 on free throws. Schieffelin had 16 points at the break.

The Tigers made six 3-pointers in the half, including two by Schieffelin.

Notre Dame announced prior to the game that guard Braeden Shrewsberry is out for at least a few weeks — and possibly for the rest of the season — with an abdominal injury. He is the son of coach Micah Shrewsberry.
