The Wolverines followed with a 15-4 run that was punctuated by a highlight-reel alley-oop play. Mara lobbed a high-arching pass from the 3-point line toward the rim, and Johnson Jr. caught the ball with both hands and finished with a jam to make it 79-61 with 8:32 remaining.

Two minutes later, the Wolverines stretched their lead beyond 20 points. Nimari Burnett knocked down a 3-pointer to give MIchigan an 84-63 edge with 6:33 to play.
