On Friday, Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra welcomed their first baby through a surrogate. The power couple had got married in both Hindu and Christian ceremonies in 2018. The announcement of the baby was a surprise to many. Priyanka did mention that the couple wanted to have children in the future in an interview with Vanity Fair magazine (February issue ) but made no mention that they would welcome a baby in the next few weeks.
On Friday, Priyanka wrote on Instagram: “We are overjoyed to confirm that we have welcomed a baby via surrogate. We respectfully ask for privacy during this special time as we focus on our family.”
The 39-year old actress and the 29-year old musician have been married for more than three years. Despite their busy schedules, they have remained together and have always posted a united front. In March 2021, the couple hosted the Oscar nominations.
Priyanka has mentioned that they would have a child in the “organic way” in February 2019 in an interview with PEOPLE. In her interview earlier this year with Vanity Fair, the Quantico actor who graced the February 2020 cover story spoke in detail on many issues. When asked if her mother was also hoping for a grandchild, Priyanka said, “They’re a big part of our desire for the future.”

She also said, “By God’s grace, when it happens, it happens.” As the interviewers from Vanity Fair Rebecca Ford and Emma Summerton, point out that their (Priyanka and Nick) lives seem busier than ever, Priyanka says, “No, we’re not too busy to practice.”

According to the report in the Vanity Fair website, the interviewer laughs and clarifies that the mention wasn’t about sex but was about their hectic pace at work and that they would have to slow down, when they have a child.
Priyanka answered, “I’m okay with that. We’re both okay with that.”
Now that the Jonas baby has arrived at the household of Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas, they are likely to slowdown their pace of work. They have already settled into a large 20,000 square foot home in San Fernando Valley, which they bought at the end of 2019, for $20 million.
