Matt Boldy scored 2:14 into overtime to lift the Minnesota Wild to a 2-1 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday evening in Saint Paul, Minn.

Ryan Hartman also scored for Minnesota, which won for the eighth time in 11 games to start the season. Jared Spurgeon registered a pair of assists.

William Nylander scored the lone goal for Toronto, which lost its second game in as many nights. Auston Matthews and Mitch Marner each tallied an assist.

Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson stopped 27 of 28 shots to earn the victory. He made 11 saves in the first period, 11 saves in the second period and five saves in the third period.

Maple Leafs goaltender Anthony Stolarz stopped 31 of 33 shots. He dropped to 4-2-2.

Spurgeon provided the key play before the game-winning goal. He chased down a loose puck in the Wild’s defensive zone and fired it across center ice and toward the offensive zone.

Boldy ended up with the puck on his stick and skated in for a breakaway opportunity against Stolarz. Boldy faked to his backhand and shifted to his forehand before burying a shot for his sixth goal of the season.

Teammates mobbed Boldy, who notched his 17th game-winning goal in four NHL seasons.

Minnesota opened the scoring with 9:41 remaining in the first period.

Frederick Gaudreau attempted a backhanded shot that did not make it past traffic. But Gaudreau’s shot led to a loose puck in front of the net, and Hartman spotted it and punched it in for his third goal of the season.

Toronto pulled even at 1-1 on the power play with 52 seconds remaining in the first period.

Matthews handled the puck in the right circle and looked for an open teammate. He zipped a pass to Nylander, who fired a one-timer past Gustavsson from the left circle.

It marked Nylander’s team-leading ninth goal of the season.

Toronto went 1-for-2 on the man advantage. Minnesota went 0-for-3.
