The Minnesota Wild acquired forward Gustav Nyquist from the Nashville Predators on Saturday in exchange for a second-round draft pick in 2026.

The Predators also will retain 50 percent of Nyquist’s contract.

Indications of a pending deal came when Nyquist was held out of the Predators’ game against the host New York Islanders on Saturday afternoon.

The Los Angeles Kings also were potential landing spots for Nyquist, according to reports. The 35-year-old is playing in the final season of a two-year, $6.37 million contract.

Nyquist has totaled 21 points (nine goals, 12 assists) in 57 games this season. In 13 NHL seasons with five different teams, Nyquist has totaled 524 points (207 goals, 317 assists) in 841 games.

Nyquist played three regular-season and six playoff games for the Wild at the end of the 2022-23 season, recording 10 points (one goal, nine assists).

Also Saturday, the Predators placed captain Roman Josi on injured reserve. The 2019-20 Norris Trophy recipient is considered week-to-week with an upper-body injury.

Josi, 34, was injured after absorbing a hit from Sam Bennett of the Florida Panthers in a 4-1 loss on Tuesday. The defenseman sat out Nashville’s 2-1 victory against the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday.

“Obviously with those things, it’s day to day, could be week to week, it could be season-ending,” Predators coach Andrew Brunette said. “We don’t really know yet.”

Josi has 38 points (nine goals, 29 assists) in 53 games while averaging 25:02 of ice time.

The Predators also recalled forward Jake Lucchini and defenseman Spencer Stastney from Milwaukee of the American Hockey League.
