Alex DeBrincat had a goal and an assist and Jake Sanderson had two assists as the Ottawa Senators recorded a 5-3 road victory over the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday in Tempe, Ariz.

The result ended a two-game losing streak for the Senators, while the Coyotes’ losing streak was extended to a season-high seven games (0-7-0).

Mark Kastelic, Brady Tkachuk, Artem Zub and Derick Brassard also scored for Ottawa.

Dylan Guenther had a goal and an assist for the Coyotes, while Lawson Crouse and Barrett Hayton also scored for the home side.

The Senators outshot the Coyotes by a 47-29 margin, but Arizona goaltender Karel Vejmelka did his best to keep his team in the game. Vejmelka stopped 42 of 46 shots, including an outstanding stop on Brassard early in the third period.

Ottawa’s offensive barrage started early, with a 15-8 shots edge in the first period and a 2-0 lead at the first intermission on goals from Tkachuk and Brassard.

Arizona scored a power-play goal at 8:45 of the second period, as Guenther blasted a wrist shot through traffic. It was a rare concession from Ottawa’s penalty-kill unit, who were 20-for-20 in the Senators’ previous seven games.

Guenther’s goal sparked a surge for the Coyotes in the remainder of the second period, but Anton Forsberg was up to the challenge. The Senators goalie made a pair of highlight-reel stops late in the frame, robbing Nick Bjugstad at the side of the net and then making a tremendous blocker save on Hayton.

Forsberg stopped 26 of 29 shots overall to earn his eighth win.

Less than a minute after Forsberg denied Hayton, the Senators went on the counterattack and extended their lead. DeBrincat jammed in a loose puck at the side of the net for his 14th goal.

The two clubs each scored twice in the third period, with the Coyotes twice narrowing the deficit to a single goal. However, Kastelic (an Arizona native) scored the eventual game-winner 9:42 into the final frame, and Zub clinched the win with an empty-netter in the last minute of regulation.
