Jack Quinn and Alex Tuch scored in the shootout to give the host Buffalo Sabres a 4-3 come-from-behind win over the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday.

Rasmus Dahlin scored on a one-timer from just inside the blue line with 14 seconds left in regulation to tie things up 3-3 and send the game into overtime.

After a scoreless extra session, former Sabre Victor Olofsson gave Vegas the shootout lead after Adin Hill stopped Buffalo’s first attempt. The Golden Knights, though, would not score again as Quinn and Tuch lifted the Sabres to victory.

Ryan McLeod and Jason Zucker each scored in regulation for the Sabres, who won for only the second time in nine games. Bowen Byram had two assists and Ukka-Pekka Luukkonen stopped 16 shots.

Brett Howden, Pavel Dorofeyev and Jack Eichel supplied the goals in regulation for the Golden Knights, while Hill finished with 34 saves.

Howden gave Vegas a 1-0 lead with 7:53 left in the first period.

Buffalo’s Jiri Kulich went to the locker room and did not return after taking a huge hit from Howden in the middle of the second. Buffalo’s Peyton Krebs immediately defended his teammate, and he and Kulich fought. Krebs got the extra minor penalty for instigating, in addition to the five-minute fighting major assessed to each player, which gave the Golden Knights a power play.

Dorofeyev made it 2-0, with 7:54 remaining in the middle period. It was Dorofeyev’s 27th goal and third in three games.

But it only took seven seconds for McLeod to put Buffalo on the scoreboard. He beat Hill from the left circle on a play directly off the center-ice faceoff following Dorofeyev’s goal. It snapped Hill’s shutout streak of over 98 minutes.

Zucker’s power-play goal 9:53 into the third period tied the game 2-2. He scored from the slot after intercepting Vegas defenseman Alex Pietrangelo’s clearing attempt from behind the net. It was Zucker’s team-leading 10th power-play goal.

Eichel gave the Golden Knights a 3-2 lead with 2:33 left when he put in a loose puck off a goal-mouth scramble.

The Sabres’ Josh Norris did not play due to an undisclosed injury.
