Forward Tyler Bertuzzi’s hand injury will sideline him for 4 to 6 weeks, the Detroit Red Wings announced Monday.

Bertuzzi left Sunday’s win over the New Jersey Devils on Sunday after a puck smacked his right hand. The Red Wings did not disclose the full nature of the injury, referring only to an upper-body injury as the reason for his absence.

Bertuzzi had an assist at 1:30 of the second period before he was hurt while blocking a shot.

Detroit hosts the Los Angeles Kings on Monday night, then has three days off before visiting the Chicago Blackhawks.

Jakub Vrana, who replaced Bertuzzi on the top line Sunday and was among the scorers for Detroit, is unavailable Monday night for “personal reasons,” the team said.

Dominik Kubalik, who added his first goal in the third period Sunday, skated in Bertuzzi’s spot with the top line at Detroit’s morning skate on Monday.

In 278 career games, Bertuzzi has 84 goals and 105 assists.
