James van Riemsdyk scored the shootout-winning goal to give the visiting Detroit Red Wings a 3-2 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Sunday.

Lucas Raymond and Moritz Seider also scored for the Red Wings, who have won four of five games.

Goaltender Cam Talbot made 16 saves through overtime.

Jeff Skinner and Sam Dickinson replied for the Sharks, who twice erased third-period deficits but had their two-game winning streak snapped.

Goalie Alex Nedeljkovic stopped 29 shots through overtime, including a couple of breakaways.

In the fourth round of the shootout, van Riemsdyk converted a forehand deke for the winner. He was the only player to score in the competition for the extra point.

After a low-event first period, the Red Wings took control of the play in the middle frame and were rewarded when Raymond finally opened the scoring at 18:05 of the second period. Raymond eluded a check at the top of the right circle, worked to the dot and ripped a wrist shot home for his fourth goal of the season.

Raymond’s point streak is up to four games, in which he has collected two goals and four assists.

Skinner’s goal 49 seconds into the third period drew the Sharks even. Skinner, moved up a forward line with William Eklund injured, snapped a seven-game goal drought when he redirected Philipp Kurashev’s sharp-angled pass for his fourth goal of the campaign.

Kurashev’s assist extended his point-scoring streak to five games (four goals, four assists).

Seider restored the Detroit lead at 10:16 of the final frame with his first goal of the season. With his team buzzing in the offensive zone, the puck came to the defenseman at the point and he fired a shot off the iron and into the net.

Alex DeBrincat collected an assist to extend his point-scoring streak to six games (four goals, five assists).

Dickinson, the 11th overall pick of the 2024 draft playing in his 10th career game, again pulled San Jose even with 3:05 remaining in regulation time with his first career goal. Amidst a flurry of activity, Dickinson stepped down from his point position for a feed from Will Smith and quickly converted his milestone marker.
