K’Andre Miller tied the score with less than one second remaining in regulation, Adam Fox scored 1:16 into overtime and the New York Rangers rallied past the visiting Dallas Stars 2-1 on Thursday night.

In overtime, New York’s Artemi Panarin got to a loose puck during scramble in front and passed to Fox, who scored on a backhander.

With the extra attacker on for New York late in regulation, Miller’s initial shot from above the left faceoff circle was blocked, but he then wristed a shot by Dallas goaltender Jake Oettinger two-tenths of a second before time expired.

Igor Shesterkin made 24 saves for the Rangers, who improved to 5-0-1 in their past six games and 13-2-2 in the past 17.

Tyler Seguin scored his 10th goal of the season for the Stars and Oettinger made 29 saves.

Dallas converted its only power-play opportunity while the Rangers were 0-for-4.

Both teams were missing significant parts of their offense as New York played without forward Kris Kreider and Dallas was without forward Roope Hintz.

The Rangers had three power-play opportunities over the first two periods but couldn’t convert with the extra man or otherwise as Oettinger made 19 of his saves.

New York forward Julien Gauthier left the game after a collision with teammate Sammy Blais.

Meanwhile the Stars used their only power-play chance in the first 40 minutes to take a 1-0 lead at 17:53 of the second period. Denis Gurianov carried in along the left boards and passed back to Mason Marchment in the left faceoff circle. Marchment’s shot attempt was deflected to a wide-open Seguin, who scored on wrist shot from just inside the right faceoff circle.

Shesterkin made back-to-back saves against Joe Pavelski and Ryan Sutter with about eight minutes remaining to keep New York’s deficit at one goal.

Oettinger, who entered the game tied for the third-lowest goals-against-average (2.29) in the league, has given up two goals or fewer in seven of his past eight starts.
