Patrik Laine scored three goals to lead the Columbus Blue Jackets to a 4-3 road win over the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday.

The Blue Jackets snapped a 10-game road losing streak.

Columbus scored three goals in a span of 2:43 to take a 3-0 lead in the first period.

Laine scored the first of those goals, taking a pass from Johnny Gaudreau and one-timing a shot from the right faceoff circle into the goal, giving the Blue Jackets a 1-0 lead with 7:13 remaining in the first.

Then, Vladislav Gavrikov made it 2-0 Columbus with 6:06 to go in the first when he poked a loose puck sitting in the crease into an empty goal.

Laine then added another goal, giving Columbus a 3-0 lead with 4:30 remaining in the first. The rebound off a shot by Jack Roslovic went behind the boards and came back out in front of the Detroit goal to the stick of Laine, who then scored.

With 18:28 remaining in the second period, Laine scored his third goal when he took a cross-ice pass from Adam Boqvist in the right faceoff circle and one-timed it past Detroit goalie Ville Husso to make it 4-0 Columbus.

Detroit got on the board with 14:10 remaining in the third period, cutting the Columbus lead to 4-1 when a puck went off Columbus defenseman Mathieu Olivier, who tried to clear the puck, and into the net.

The goal was credited to Detroit’s Olli Maatta.

The Red Wings then made it 4-2 with 12:52 remaining on a goal by Jake Walman, who skated in and fired a hard shot from the top of the right faceoff circle past the glove of Columbus goalie Elvis Merzlikins.

Detroit then cut its deficit to 4-3 with 4:04 left when Lucas Raymond found himself open in between the faceoff circles and fired a backhand into the net.

The Red Wings pulled Husso with 1:33 remaining, but couldn’t get the tying goal.
