Zach Hyman broke a third-period tie and Leon Draisaitl scored once and added two assists to give the visiting Edmonton Oilers a 4-2 victory over the Calgary Flames on Sunday.

Jeff Skinner and Mattias Janmark also scored and goaltender Stuart Skinner made 29 saves for the Oilers, who have won four of their past five games.

Anthony Mantha and Yegor Sharangovich had goals for the Flames, who have one win in their past six games. Goalie Dan Vladar stopped 27 shots.

After the Oilers squandered a two-goal lead, Hyman put Edmonton back in front at 10:10 of the third period. During a power play, Hyman was sprung in the slot and chipped a high shot home for his second goal of the season.

The Flames generated a handful of scoring chances before the final buzzer but could not find an equalizer before Janmark notched an empty-net goal — his first marker of the season — with 2.4 seconds left on the clock.

Edmonton has won two consecutive games since star forward Connor McDavid was sidelined due to an ankle injury.

Draisaitl opened the scoring 20 seconds into the clash on the game’s first shot. After a Calgary turnover, Draisaitl was fed a pass in the slot, and he lifted a backhanded shot for his ninth goal of the campaign.

Jeff Skinner doubled the lead at the 8:12 mark of the opening frame with his third goal of the season. He was denied on a scoring chance during a rush up ice but had the presence to remain at the net for the resulting loose puck that he tucked into the cage.

Mantha provided the Flames a much-needed spark, a power-play goal at 4:33 of the second period. Mantha was parked in front of the net and deflected Tyson Barrie’s high-point shot for his fourth goal of 2024-25.

Sharangovich’s tally tied the score at 2 at 4:28 of the third period. The center scored on a long wrist shot that went through a screen and past Stuart Skinner.
