Zach Hyman tied the game with 32 seconds left in regulation and Connor McDavid scored 47 seconds into overtime to lift the Edmonton Oilers to a 6-5 win against the visiting Washington Capitals on Saturday night.

Evan Bouchard sent McDavid in on a breakaway and he lifted the puck past Washington goaltender Charlie Lindgren.

Bouchard had a hat trick and three assists and McDavid had two goals and three assists for the Oilers. Leon Draisaitl (three assists) had missed four consecutive games after taking a leave of absence on Jan. 17 to attend to a family illness in his native Germany.

Edmonton starting goalie Connor Ingram was lifted late in the second period after allowing three goals on 12 shots. Tristan Jarry made 13 saves on 15 shots.

Connor McMichael and Justin Sourdif each had a goal and an assist for the Capitals, who won Friday night in Calgary and were looking to win consecutive games for the first time since early December. Lindgren made 34 saves on 40 shots.

McMichael gave the Capitals a 5-4 lead at 15:09 of the third period when he scored during a scramble in front.

Hyman tied it 5-5 with 28 seconds remaining when he tipped in a pass from McDavid during 6-on-5 play.

Bouchard, playing his 400th NHL game, gave the Oilers a 1-0 lead at 19:12 of the first period, scoring on a wrist shot through traffic from the right point.

The Capitals tied it at 19:34 when Aliaksei Protas knocked in a rebound.

Bouchard made it 2-1 at 4:13 of the second period when his snap shot from the center point deflected off Lindgren’s catching glove and went in.

Sourdif tied it 2-2 at 6:50 when he entered the zone 2-on-1, kept the puck and beat Ingram short side from the left circle.

Anthony Beauvillier gave the Capitals their first lead, 3-2, at 14:29. He came down the left side on the rush and his shot deflected off Edmonton’s Spencer Stastney and through the 5-hole, ending Ingram’s night.

Bouchard completed the hat trick and tied the score 3-3 at 4:30 of the third period when he took a pass at the point from McDavid, skated down the slot and beat Lindgren during 4-on-4 play.

The Capitals regained the lead at 6:40 when Dylan Strome scored on a wrist shot from above the right circle during a power play.

McDavid tied it 4-4 during a power play at 8:24 when he skated across the slot and scored with a wrist shot from the left circle.
