Morgan Geekie scored his second goal of the game at 2:27 of overtime, lifting the visiting Boston Bruins to a 2-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings on Friday night.

David Pastrnak played the puck at the blue line and sent a pass to Geekie, who triggered a shot from the top of the right circle for the decisive goal.

Geekie, who registered his second consecutive multi-goal performance, is tied for the NHL lead with 16 goals this season. Colorado Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon also has 16.

Nikita Zadorov dished out two assists and Jeremy Swayman stopped 31 of the 32 shots he faced for the Bruins, who had lost three of their previous four games.

A short-handed goal by Los Angeles’ Joel Armia with 6:57 left forced the extra session.

Darcy Kuemper made 24 stops for the Kings, who have lost three straight (0-1-2) and have just one home win this season (1-4-3).

Los Angeles wound up with a 32-26 shot advantage but went 0-for-5 on the power play.

Geekie broke the scoreless deadlock at 8:01 of the third, rocketing an Alex Steeves centering feed from the high slot into the top corner of Kuemper’s net.

Boston earned its second power play minutes later, but it turned for the worse as Armia scored short-handed for a league-leading third time this season to knot the score at 13:03. After Swayman made an initial save on Trevor Moore, Armia slotted the puck home to finish a 2-on-1 rush.

Boston killed off 1:10 of 5-on-3 time during a scoreless first period, with Swayman making a key glove save on Adrian Kempe’s wrist shot from the right circle at the 10:59 mark.

Los Angeles nearly jumped in front during a power-play chance at 7:28 into the second. Kevin Fiala’s drive clanked off the post and off Swayman’s back before being swept off the goal line.

The visitors clanked the iron twice in the waning minutes of the middle frame. Riley Tufte accepted Marat Khusnutdinov’s long saucer feed and hit the crossbar with 4:10 left before Pastrnak snapped a shot off the left post with 1:23 to go.

In the opening five minutes of the third, Kuemper steered away Zadorov’s short-handed 2-on-1 chance from the right circle before Swayman made two stops in succession as play moved to the other end. Boston’s Matej Blumel had another great chance hit the post just over a minute before Armia’s goal.
