Mark Scheifele scored twice and added an assist as the visiting Winnipeg Jets defeated the Ottawa Senators 5-1 on Saturday.

Connor Hellebucyk made 25 saves in the win, while Nikolaj Ehlers and Blake Wheeler both had three-point nights with a goal and two assists each for Winnipeg.

Josh Norris scored the lone goal for Ottawa, which was playing the second game of a back-to-back and had lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-1 on the road Friday.

Ehlers gave Winnipeg a 1-0 lead 6:58 into the first period on the power play. Ehlers slammed home a cross-slot feed from Josh Morrissey for his fourth goal of the season.

Norris tied the game for Ottawa at 1-1 11:12 into the first period when he one-timed a shot after a clean faceoff win by Claude Giroux.

Scheifele scored his first goal five minutes into the second period on a one-timer after a feed from Kyle Connor.

For Connor the assist was the 400th of his career and came in his 431st game. He is now the seventh player in Jets history, which includes time the franchise spent in Atlanta as the Thrashers.

Wheeler made it 3-1 at 13:09 of the second period, tipping a shot by Ehlers in front of the net past Anton Forsberg.

Scheifele scored his second goal at 16:07 of the third period to make it 4-1, finishing off a pretty sequence with Wheeler and Axel Jonsson-Fjallby.

Cole Perfetti added the 5-1 marker with 1:43 remaining, with Ehlers and Wheeler both picking up their second assists of the game.

Things got hectic in the third period as the Senators racked up 53 penalty minutes in the contest and both Brady Tkachuck and Alex DeBrincat finished the game by serving misconducts.

Forsberg made 25 saves on 30 shots in the loss.
