Isac Lundestrom and Trevor Zegras scored goals in the third and Lukas Dostal made 30 saves in his second NHL shutout, leading the visiting Anaheim Ducks to a 2-0 victory against the San Jose Sharks on Saturday night.

Anaheim recorded its first season-opening shutout on the road in franchise history.

Vitek Vanecek made 28 saves for the Sharks, who played without rookie center Macklin Celebrini. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NHL Draft was placed on injured reserve earlier in the day and is week-to-week with a lower-body injury, which he had been nursing since the preseason.

Celebrini, 18, had a goal and an assist in his NHL debut on Thursday, a 5-4 overtime loss to the St. Louis Blues.

In a matchup of two of the three lowest-scoring teams in the NHL last season, Lundestrom scored the first goal of the game at 11 minutes of the third period.

Brett Leason brought the puck down the wall and into the San Jose zone before centering a pass that was partially tipped by teammate Brock McGinn and continued to Lundestrom, who was wide open coming down the middle. He had time to collect the puck and pick a corner from the slot for a 1-0 lead.

The Sharks pulled Vanecek with just over two minutes left for the extra attacker, and Zegras scored into the empty net to make it 2-0 with 1:35 left.

The Sharks appeared to score the first goal 2:45 into the game when Mikael Granlund made a long pass off the end boards while on a power play. The carom came out to Fabian Zetterlund, who skated in and scored from in close.

The Ducks requested a review for offside, however, and the goal was nullified after it showed Zetterlund had entered the zone before the puck crossed the blue line.

The Ducks went on to outshoot San Jose 10-8 in the first period.

The Ducks, who finished 24th in the NHL on the power play last season (17.9), went 0 for 5 with the man-advantage while the Sharks went 0 for 3.
