Joey Daccord stopped 32 shots and Jaden Schwartz posted a three-point night as the visiting Seattle Kraken won 3-0 on Thursday to halt the Winnipeg Jets’ five-game winning streak.
Seattle ended a two-game skid and closed a 2-2-2 road trip.
Connor Hellebuyck made 25 saves as the Jets suffered only their second loss of the season after dropping their opener.
Schwartz, who scored twice and added an assist, got the Kraken on the board 2:28 into the second period. The veteran forward picked up a rebound off a shot from Shane Wright and tapped it into the empty cage.
Adam Larsson also recorded an assist on Schwartz’s first goal.
Schwartz put a bow on the contest with 1:40 left as he sent the puck into the empty cage. Jordan Eberle put more icing on the cake as he tallied an empty-netter 23 seconds later, with Schwartz picking up an assist.
The Jets came inches away from breaking the deadlock in the dying seconds of the opening frame, but Josh Morrissey’s tip hit the crossbar and Gabriel Vilardi was unable to get his stick on the bouncing puck before it was batted away by Daccord.
The goalies continued their strong play as Daccord turned aside Kyle Connor’s wrist shot with 15:44 left in the middle frame.
Not to be outdone, Hellebuyck stretched his glove out and flashed the leather on Mason Marchment’s attempt with 7:50 left in the period.
Vince Dunn had a fantastic opportunity to extend the lead with just under a minute left in the second, but Hellebuyck got a piece of the defenseman’s blistering wrister to keep the Jets’ deficit at one.
The Jets picked up their pace just near the halfway point of the third, culminating in a Morrissey slap shot that Daccord shut down with 12:31 left.
Chandler Stephenson nearly extended Seattle’s lead with just over four minutes remaining, but Hellebuyck stopped and held onto the forward’s redirection.
The loss ended the Jets’ five-game winning streak against the Kraken.
