The Philadelphia Flyers placed leading scorer Travis Konecny on injured reserve Saturday and recalled fellow forward Elliot Desnoyers from Lehigh Valley of the American Hockey League.
Konecny has sat out the Flyers’ last two games due to an upper-body injury he sustained in Monday’s 4-3 victory over the Calgary Flames. He collected a goal and an assist before exiting the contest in the second period after being shoved into the boards from behind by Calgary defenseman MacKenzie Weegar.
Konecny, 25, sports team-leading totals in goals (27) and points (54) this season. His goal total serves as a career high.
Konecny has 325 points (137 goals, 188 assists) in 480 career games since being selected by the Flyers with the 24th overall pick of the 2015 NHL Draft.
Desnoyers, 21, would be in line to make his NHL debut should he play in Saturday’s road game against the New Jersey Devils. He has 36 points (19 goals, 17 assists) in 48 games this season with the Phantoms.
