Anthony Duclair and Bo Horvat scored the tying and go-ahead goals in a 55-second span late in the first period Friday night for the New York Islanders, who matched their season-best winning streak by beating the Philadelphia Flyers 3-1 in Elmont, N.Y.

Brock Nelson scored in the second period for the Islanders, who have won three in a row to improve to 3-2-0 on a season-high seven-game homestand. New York also won three straight from Jan. 5-11.

Kyle Palmieri logged two assists for the Islanders. Nelson also had a two-point game, and New York goalie Ilya Sorokin made 29 saves.

Tyson Foerster scored in the first period for the Flyers, who lost for the second time in as many nights following a six-game point streak (5-0-1). Philadelphia fell to the New York Rangers 6-1 on Thursday.

Flyers goalie Ivan Fedotov recorded 24 saves on Friday.

Foerster closed out a two-on-one to give the Flyers a short-lived lead at 14:14 of the first.

Travis Konency, who was deep in the Philadelphia zone, chipped the puck to Foerster, who raced up the left side of the ice accompanied by teammate Morgan Frost with Islanders defenseman Dennis Cholowski in the middle. Foerster deked a pass to Frost before sending a shot beyond Sorokin’s stick.

Some nifty passing helped the Islanders tie the score and take the lead over the next four minutes. Palmieri sent a backhanded pass diagonally across the ice to Nelson, who caught the puck at the edge of the Flyers’ zone before dropping it to the ice and dishing to Duclair. A shot from Duclair beat Fedotov over his stick shoulder at 17:08.

Less than a minute later, New York’s Alexander Romanov sent a pass through the neutral zone to Mathew Barzal, beginning the two-on-one that ended with Horvat firing a shot past a sprawling Fedotov. Horvat has four goals in his past four games.

The Islanders outshot the Flyers 13-7 in the second period and added the insurance goal following an end-to-end rush at 13:56. Adam Pelech’s clearing pass clipped off Palmieri in the neutral zone and bounced to Nelson, who sent a shot under Fedotov’s glove from the top of the right faceoff circle.
